Opener:
To begin our study of the Amazon Rainforest I would like for you to do the following:
  1. Brainstorm, by yourself, all the words, phrases, and visuals you think of when you think of Amazon Rainforest.
  2. Go to Wordle
  3. Click on Create at the top of the site.
  4. Type all the words, phrases, and visuals you thought about when you brainstormed in #1.
  5. Click Go at the bottom of your list. BE PATIENT it will take a few moments to create your wordle.
  6. You may play with fonts, but we are only printing ONE BLACK AND WHITE copy, NO colors.
  7. When you are satisfied with the layout and font please press print ONCE at the bottom of the page.



Project:
Essential Question: How should the resources of rainforests be used and preserved?
You and and your group will create a poster advertising for one of the following groups:
  • Native Amazonians
  • Cattle Ranchers
  • Loggers
  • Settlers
Complete the following tasks with your group:
  1. Identify the way of using land that is best for your group.
  2. On a large paper create a poster representing the views of your group.
    • Title. Create a title that declares the group you represent.
    • Symbol. Create a symbol that represents your group.
    • Words & images. Use short phrases and images to show what your group wants and why their views on land use in the rainforest are important.
